[Singapore] Punggol-East By-Election Rally

Worker's Party (WP) By-Election Rally [2013/01/19]

The large crowd that came by for WP's Rally after a rainy evening.

From the above!

Worker's Party Supporter

Good evening to all !

Recently, I've decided to photograph the rally for Punggol-East By-election. It was my first time being at the rally, for both photographing and listening to the parties speech. It was raining the whole day, and I thought I wouldn't be making it to the rally this time.

Fortunately the rain stops right before the rally starts, wasn't really pleasant but at least a different experience for me. The open field were filled with rain water and soon became muddy. Feet and sandals were all filled with mud..Supporters of the Worker's Party are still there to give their fullest support despite the wet and muddy field.

Hope the photographs doesn't disappoint everyone, as mentioned it was my first time photographing a rally. Not expecting what's going to happen ! Just shoot what I see !

Cheers! ☺

P.S: I hope time is at my side..as I wish to photograph all the different rally from various parties.

Even the beauty will come to an end.

A beautiful sunset which was mistaken for dawn.

Good day everyone,
It's hard to come by such beautiful sky, and so it's even harder to photograph, having multiple fleeting colours in the sky and trying to get the correct exposure.

Once, I was asked by Straits Time.. "What is your goal in photography?"
"To be as good as those well-known photographers out there" I replied.

They then replied with a smile, "The sky is the limit, Joel ! "

After much thoughts, I've decided.. " No ! The sky is not the limit, photography is a never ending learning and sharing journey." :)

Have a good evening .

Pursue your dreams

Step up, spread your wings, fly and pursue your dreams.

Good evening pals!

Just as I thought the rainy weather in Singapore is over..I was totally wrong ! The weather nowadays are getting "unpredictable". It was such a hot weather this morning as the scorching sun rises, then later in the late afternoon it rained so heavily which results in poor visibility.

I somehow love this photograph as it is really well balanced, in terms of lighting, composition and having a human element. Well, its really tough to have such a beautiful blue sky filled with cotton clouds just for photography.

How I wish, tomorrow will be better :)

Experimental journey with lights

Just a simple experiment with lights.

Light Fantasy

Great day everyone :),

I've been so bored shooting nightscapes around my area and it have been quite mainstream when all the photographers are shooting the same old stuff, so I decided to try something new!! So, recently..I've done an experiment with lights !! Yes, creating something out of nothing. Good to see that the results were quite... successful ☺

I believe that's all for this post, will let the photo do the speaking as they say "A photo speaks a thousand words" :)

Have a great week.

Ending off a beautiful day.

It's great to walk along the broadwalk, witnessing the beautiful sunset lowering itself down the horizon.

Couple by the shore.

Waves repeatedly came swashing by and hitting itself against the rocks along the shore.

When haven and earth meets.

Good evening everyone,

How lucky is it, having able to see and photograph sunsets like these during the rainy season in Singapore. :) You've got no idea, how much I love and appreciate the beauty of nature. They really keeps you and your mind calm and peaceful, aren't they amazing?

One thing I love photographing seascapes is that, don't you realized the waves aren't just 'waves'? They look so silky , and sometime's they look like a sea of cloud. Applying types of photographing technique will eventually create a different feel and texture. I personally love these kind of 'feel' in photographs, yes..especially seascapes. :)

Have a great weekend ahead everyone!!

Arrival of the storm

The last bit of sunlight as the stormy dark clouds started covering the whole city.

Dark Clouds, Rain, and strong wind, forming into look of an on coming tornado.

Lightnings right after the sunset.

Thank God It's Friday (TGIF) everyone!!

Isn't scary to experience such stormy clouds having it to cover the whole city? and at the same time having to hear that the world is ending soon? After all,it's up to everyone's individual believes.

Yes, it's quite unlucky (in my opinion) that we don't experience a single bit of snow in Singapore..but during the year end to early part of the year, we call it rainy season instead of winter. And I thought, it would be great to photograph these scary scene of the ''rainy season'' in Singapore. Well, there might be stormy clouds as similar as these, but to a photographer..every second makes a different in changing the scene of mother nature.

It can be said as my very first time photographing the lightning. It was a totally great and different experience, having the camera to expose for a certain amount of time and looking at the sky changing every single moment keeps me thinking 'that's how fast time passes'

Also, I'm considered very lucky to be able to capture one of the lightning striking right towards the building in front of where my camera is pointing. This photograph was taken from my room window, and usually dark thick clouds would be covering and lightning will be at the opposite side of the clouds. Such a lucky day for me being able to photograph such scene (especially from my room window).

Have a great weekend ahead pals ! :)

My Travels and In-sight of 2012

Greetings from Singapore, A new year has arrived ! Together with your many new resolutions. Well, before 2013 gets any further..Let me post some of my Travel Photographs and In-sights of 2012. Without further ado, let's get started. ☺

The sea was calm as the sunrises above the horizon. Bringing colours of sunrise into the sky.

Trip of a Lifetime
Maldives - March 2012

I consider myself, being lucky enough to be at Maldives. Well, not enjoying in any resorts as we were suppose to be on a fishing trip for 7 days. Staying in the luxury boat for 6 nights is just as good and even more excitements than being at a resort, spending loads per night and have totally less or even no activity to do.

This was my second trip there in Maldives, but this time I feel so blessed being able to witness such beautiful coral reefs which kept my jaws dropping. Wouldn't you have the same experience if you were there? Me, being a photographer I did my very best to capture this amazing moments I have in Maldives and hope to give you an in-sight of my trip to Maldives in March 2012. :)

No Pain No Gain

First ever experience with the Milky way

Indonesia, Surabaya - June 2012

Having seen many breath-taking photographs from Surabaya, we've decided to plan a trip up. Instead of only visiting Mt.Bromo, we headed further to conquer Mt.Ijen as well. The trip and journey up to Mt.Ijen was tough, sitting long hours of rides by van, having a night at a resort nearby, waking up as early as 3am and to continue the journey to Ijen.

The road to Mt.Ijen is just rough, only a 4-wheel drive is able to access to that area. But after all the "ass-hurting" journey and a tough climb up Mt.Ijen, hard work pays off !! No regrets. :)

One thing I love about travelling, is that wherever we go, we are able to at least have a little knowledge, knowing and understanding about the cultures and activities in that area, as for Mt.Ijen.. Sulphur miners have to carry at least 70kg to 90kg of Sulphur Slabs twice a day up and down the mountain just to earn a little living of maybe 13 USD everyday. Looking at how much they suffer, really taught me to be appreciative of what I have right now.

Heading on, we drove all the way back and hit for Mt.Bromo, journey is just as long there, about 12 hours probably? But as Mt.Bromo has been somehow commercialised and having lots of tourist day and night, they have a proper route up to whichever accommodation you have booked for the night.

Abit about Mt.Bromo, hmm..it's an active volcano which will erupt once in awhile and covering the whole mountain with volcano ashes. Having yourself being at Mt.Bromo, it's no surprise that whatever you have with you will collect volcano ash. If you are going, remember to bring a mask and at least protect your nose, throat and lungs from letting volcano ash enter. Well, it's more important than anything you have with you (shirt, shoes etc)

Australia is just amazing. *Jaw Dropping*

Waves rushes by through the shore, while the passionate fisherman continues fishing.

How cool can it be when it comes to Surfing? I wish, I will have that experience someday :)

A morning at surfers.

A long river that cuts across the city of Brisbane, Australia

Aren't dolphins amazing? Such a fun job being a dolphin trainer.

One day, I will learn to dive, explore and photograph the beauty of corals beneath.

Gold Coast & Brisbane, Australia - September 2012

A short trip to visit my sister taking her university in Australia, Brisbane. We visited, the theme parks and travelled around the area. How I wish I'm living in Australia, having less stress at work and long breaks at studies. (From my point of view)

We did a self-drive up from Gold Coast to Brisbane, enjoying and exploring different scenic areas..Australia is really a good place for relaxing. Peaceful in certain areas, able to enjoy in many places with nature. How relaxing can it be? When I was there, I told myself...leave all the work behind, let me relax once and for all. :P and.. that is the correct thing that should be done every holiday trips, right? :)

Fisherman at Phatthalung.

Many people will do a 2 hours kayaking down this long stream in the afternoon. It's very fun and enjoyable.. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED! :) But don't bring your cameras along.

The Sakai Tribes

You can never believe it, these are wild..

Southern Thailand - December 2012

This is one trip that I've felt time passes so slow. Definitely not because it wasn't fun and boring, but I think it's the many activities we had in a day, but surprisingly I don't feel it rushing at all..it just keeps me occupied the whole day. From photo shooting to enjoying scenic views, visiting the local market and many more. :)

This trip up to the Southern Thailand is to have a family trip since my sister is back during her study break and also to visit our friends in Thailand. It was a great trip (that's what I say for every holiday :P), especially right after my examinations,it keeps me not to worry about my results and just enjoy what is happening at the moment.
